Popeye is a detail of a commission portrait of four fur babies my friend Michelle has had in her life. Sadly, all of these beauties have gone to Rainbow Bridge. My client wanted all four in a painting, so I decided to create the painting using a square format like Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe artwork.
I believe Popeye is a Skye Terrier from the Terrier group. A white dog with fluffy ears dominates the portrait against a vibrant red background. Its eyes are expressive, and it seems to gaze directly at the viewer with an attentive, almost lifelike quality suggesting a sense of curiosity or attentiveness.
